Hot Metro Finds.com started out as a video site highlighting what?s selling and hot attractions in Metro Detroit. That vision has expanded with the mobile phone demographic and now includes QR codes that connect deal seekers to coupons in S.E. Michigan and throughout Oakland County. Unlike other coupon sites that ask for sales requirements or large contracts Hot Metro Finds is offering this service for free. Now the retailers can post their coupons on this easily accessible website and drive cash paying consumers to their brick and mortar locations with no upfront fees. The website has been configured for a few industries including smart phones, beer /wine sales, and the ever popular hydroponics market. In the next few weeks the site will be accepting listings from professional services like plastic surgery and dentistry.
The strength of the marketing system is multi leveled and uses the strengths of smart website optimization as well as social media and viral marketing. Using these large arms of reach enables the site to connect to a variety of users, consumers and customers. The marketing system collects information of ready and willing buyers regardless if the Michigan based business is a brick and mortar location or if it is strictly an online shopping environment. Some of the viral marketing aspects of the system have sent messages on the web that have been republished as much as 1,300 times in as little as two weeks. A lot of these marketing messages alert buyers about active coupons, sales, discount products and directs them to make a purchasing action.
The site is the creation of Ted Cantu, an ex-art director in advertising, and the author of online marketing books on Amazon. At the current writing there is a paid version option for the business owners that is more aggressive and immediate.
About the Hot Metro Finds: Hot Metro Finds offers discount coupons for consumers, QR codes, product reviews and promotions for retailers.

The 2012 London Olympics started last week, and I was pretty excited about the games before they began. In the last few days, however, my excitement has dissipated quite a bit. This could be because Detroit Lions training camp just began on Friday and most of my focus has been on that, but I think the biggest reason can be attributed to NBC's ridiculous desire to tape delay seemingly everything that is actually worth watching.
For those who aren't aware of this fiasco, NBC is tape delaying the bigger Olympic events in order to save them for primetime when ratings will be higher. Since the Olympics are in London and there is a time difference, our primetime is five hours later if you're on Eastern Time and eight hours later if you're on Pacific Time. While NBC is streaming these events live online, the quality is not good at all. Let me put it this way ... You can find higher quality streams of NFL games than what NBC is offering, and those streams of NFL games are not even hosted by the league, if you catch my drift.
While I get NBC's point about having higher ratings at night, it's absolutely preposterous for them to not air everything live. With the time difference, NBC could easily air everything live during the day and then air it all again during primetime. I highly doubt the overall ratings would be that different considering more people would probably tune in if NBC was actually showing live events that are worth watching during the day. Sure, during the week it is tougher for people to watch in the middle of the day, but for NBC to not air Michael Phelps vs. Ryan Lochte live at 2:30 p.m. on a freaking Saturday is ridiculous. It's not like people don't watch sports during the day, especially on weekends. Just ask the NFL.
Speaking of the NFL, my gripe with tape delays extends far beyond what NBC is doing with the Olympics. In fact, I had planned on writing a post of this nature weeks before the Olympics began. Why? Well, during the NFL preseason blackouts aren't actually blackouts. If games aren't sold out, they are given the blackout designation, but this simply means the games are tape delayed locally rather than not shown at all. Obviously showing the games regardless of the time is better than not airing them at all, but that doesn't exactly say much considering how awful the blackout rule is to begin with.
The NFL did become a bit less stupid by relaxing the blackout rule for regular season games this offseason, but as far as I know, preseason games will continue to be shown on tape delay locally if they are not sold out. Last year, the Lions actually managed to sell out one of their preseason home games since it was a nationally televised matchup with the New England Patriots, but sellouts for exhibition games are extremely rare. The fact of the matter is people don't want to shell out money for games that don't count for anything, and they shouldn't have to. This is yet another reason why there should be no blackouts or tape delays during the preseason. Just do it live.
My biggest gripe with the preseason blackout rule is that it is just absolutely pointless. As dumb and outdated as the rule is in the regular season, I can at least understand where the league is coming from in terms of encouraging fans to attend games if there is the threat of them not being televised. However, in the preseason the threat is simply showing games a couple hours after they begin. Does this actually encourage people to go to games? I highly doubt it. In reality, it simply encourages fans to find illegal streams so they can actually watch live. There is just no sense in not allowing games to be aired live -- sellout or not.
Like the blackout rule in the regular season, the only thing the NFL accomplishes by tape delaying preseason games is driving down interest in the sport and individual teams. This time of year is known for being when football returns, and fans have a strong desire to watch games, even if they're only preseason games. However, that desire can be taken away when somebody has to go out of their way to not have the result of their team's game spoiled, and it especially can be taken away when someone turns on the TV expecting to see football and finds out that they have to wait a couple more hours just to watch a game that has already happened.
In this day and age, tape delaying any live event is just plain shortsighted. As much as I hate NBC for tape delaying the Olympics, I can at least understand the ratings argument. For the NFL, however, there is no argument for tape delaying preseason games. Making games more difficult to watch and on later at night will not help local ratings and will not drive up interest in the teams or the league. Few, if any, people are going to buy tickets to a game that doesn't count just because of the threat of it being tape delayed, so all the NFL is actually doing is screwing over its fans with this ridiculous rule.
It's 2012. To NBC and especially the NFL, I say get with the program and stop tape delaying sports.

The United States and China are looking to pull away from the rest of the field if they keep up their pace.
Swimming is where the United States picked up medals on Sunday. They won a silver medal in the men's 400m free relay, a silver medal in the women's 400m freestyle Allison Schmitt, Dana Vollmer won a gold medal and set the world record in the 100m butterfly and Brendan Hansen earned a bronze medal in the 100m breast stroke.

NEW YORK (AP) ? Kimberley Locke wants to fill that vacant judge's chair on American Idol. The season 2 finalist feels having a former contestant on the show can bring renewed interest to the popular TV singing competition.
"I would love to sit in that chair and, you know, give some advice from the contestant's standpoint because I've been on that stage and I know what it's like," Locke said Monday in an interview with The Associated Press.
But don't consider her a pushover. Locke says she'll be brutally honest about each performance and "give it with no fluff."
"When you're a contestant on that show you do need that hard truth sometimes," Locke says, anticipating her critical tone would fall somewhere between the styles of two former judges.
"I'm not quite as nice as Paula (Abdul). Paula's super, super nice but I don't think I'm quite as mean as Simon (Cowell) either."
The empty judges' chairs came after Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez decided not to come back for another season. Last week, Mariah Carey confirmed she would join the show's 12th season. Other names mentioned to fill the missing spot include Nick Jonas, Pharrell Williams and Charlie Sheen.
Regardless of if Locke were to get the call, she loves the idea of former contestants coming back to judge. Adam Lambert has also been vocal about his willingness to be a judge on "Idol."
Since finishing behind Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken at the end of the show's second season, Locke embarked on a solo career, releasing two albums on Curb Records. Locke recently started her own label, IAM Entertainment. Her first single, "Finally Free" came out on Tuesday. She plans to release another single this year and a full album early next year.

Kobe Bryant's wife Vanessa is reportedly livid with the NBA star over pics of him partying with women in Spain last week, but is standing by him ... for now.
Vanessa Bryant flew to watch him play in the London Olympics as planned.
Sources close to Vanessa say she is "furious" and "embarrassed" over the photos of Kobe chatting up women at a party last week in Barcelona.
Here's one TMZ photo of Kobe and the girls in question at a nightclub:
Reportedly, Vanessa's anger at Kobe is not because she thinks he was putting it to those girls, but for being in a potentially embarrassing situation.
Whatever you want to make of that, Vanessa Bryant was pissed.
As for the fact that Kobe's shirtless, but he says someone spilled a drink on him, and he was only briefly shirtless before changing into a new shirt.
Add that to your book of excuses, guys.
The couple all but finalized their divorce earlier this year before reconciling, so you know this really didn't go over well. Still, she'll be by his side in London.
Vanessa reportedly says things have been going well with the basketball great since she called off the divorce, and feels this hurdle will be cleared as well.

If you have an AT&T/GSM iPhone 4 that's showing it's age and exhibiting some hardware issues, and you don't have the benefit of AppleCare or insurance, we can help you give it some love and get it back in working order. Whether it's time to replace that problem battery, fix that cracked screen, or get that broken Home button back in working order, iMore will help you get the longest life possible out of your iPhone 4, and walk you step by step through all the major repairs, with detailed instructions, photographs, and links to high quality parts from suppliers we trust.
Not exactly sure what the issue is? Read the descriptions for each repair below and match up the symptoms. Also make sure you check back often and bookmark this page as we'll be updating and adding even more guides on a regular basis.
If you're iPhone 4 is going on a few years old and your battery just isn't what it was before, replacing the battery can make a huge difference and possibly prolong the life of your device another year if not longer.
An iPhone 4 battery replacement is a super easy repair to perform and only takes about 10 minutes. It'll also cost you a lot less than shelling out money for a brand new phone, especially if you're out of warranty.
Symptoms of a dead or dying battery can include drastically reduced battery life, random reboots, and sluggishness even after a restore. In rare instances, a completely dead battery may result in an iPhone 4 only powering on when plugged into a charging source and when unplugged, the iPhone will turn off instantly.
If you've cracked the back casing on your iPhone 4 or just want to change it out for a different color, an iPhone 4 back replacement is one of the easiest repairs to perform but if you need some help along the way, check out our guide for reference.
Whether you've cracked just the front glass on your GSM iPhone 4, the touch screen isn't responding, or the LCD looks pixelated or has display issues, this is the repair you want to perform. A front digitizer replacement should resolve any issues with lines through the screen, dead pixels or pixelation, a grey screen due to a bad drop, and obviously a shattered screen. This is one of the harder repairs to perform so proceed with caution.
The iPhone 4 has been known to have Home button issues for quite a while now. No, WD-40 will not fix it. If anything, using a substance like WD-40 will cause more harm than good. The problem with the Home button almost always stems from the cable becoming worn over time from so many presses. It's flimsy and Apple should have designed it better.
The only thing that will correct Home button issues is a flex cable replacement. Whether it's not responding at all anymore, you've got to push down harder than you should, or it's registering single and double taps funny, a flex cable replacement will fix the issue 99.9% of the time.
If your GSM iPhone 4 vibrator functionality isn't working and the switch seems okay, the actual vibrator assembly could be burnt out. Replacing the vibrator assembly is a fairly easy repair and will only require about 5 minutes of your time. It's also a heck of a lot cheaper than picking up a brand new iPhone.
If your loud speaker isn't working in your GSM iPhone 4, you could need to replace the speaker assembly. A good way to know if this is the repair you need is if your speakerphone function doesn't work, no music will play out of the bottom speaker but will work when you've got headphones plugged in, or if the sound is distorted when on speakerphone or while playing music.
If you're having image quality issues with the camera in your GSM iPhone 4, it may be time to replace it. One thing to be certain of before proceeding is that the issue is with the actual camera and not the rear housing. The plastic lens that covers your camera is part of the back panel, not the camera itself. Inspect it and make sure it isn't the plastic that is scratched and causing issues. If that is the case, you'll need to perform a back replacement instead.
If there are no blemishes or scratches over the camera lens cover on the rear casing, the actual camera could be the culprit. If that's the case, follow our guide to replace it. It's a relatively easy repair and should be doable for most, even beginners.
If you're having reception issues on your GSM iPhone 4 the culprit could be the antenna itself which is attached to the speaker housing towards the bottom of the device. Symptoms could range from poor service even in good coverage areas to no service at all. There have also been instances of the iPhone 4 not picking up on 3G signals due to a bad cellular antenna. If these issues sound like you, a cellular antenna DIY replacement should solve the problem.
You'll follow almost the same procedure you would for a speaker assembly replacement.
If your GSM iPhone 4 won't recognize a charger when it's plugged in, it may be time to replace the dock connector assembly. Dock connector issues can stem from using a faulty cable or charger, moisture in the dock connector, or an issue with the 30-pin connector inside the charge port.
If you've got issues with the microphone, this should solve those woes as well. Typically if you've got this issue you experience people not being able to hear you while on a call or when recording video or audio there is no sound being output.
If your iPhone recognizes a charger but dies when you disconnect it, try a battery replacement first as that could be the issue.
If you're having issues with the front facing camera on your GSM iPhone 4, which is used most often for FaceTime calls, replacing it yourself isn't too big of a challenge if you've got a bit of patience. Symptoms could range from a blacked out camera to distortion to lines through the screen only when you're on a FaceTime call.
If you're looking into performing a color conversion on your iPhone 4 it's always a good idea to make sure you order high quality parts. Let's face it, eBay and other online resellers have a nasty habit of selling parts that are DOA or issues crop up after a few days. Making sure you use a quality supplier right from the start will save you a lot of headaches.
Apple never made colored parts so you won't find genuine OEM parts anywhere and if anyone claims they are OEM, turn around and run the other way. It doesn't mean there aren't quality parts floating around out there though. Check out our guide of what to look for so you can be prepared before you even place an order.
If you're thinking about picking up a used iPhone 4 from eBay, Craigslist, or any other online source, it's always a good idea to make sure the device hasn't seen any previous water damage before actually committing to the purchase.
You can check some sensors externally and a few internally if the seller will allow it. To make sure you're getting the most for your money and you're not buying a non-working iPhone 4, check out our guide before purchasing
If you've got a CDMA iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or other type of iPhone, we may have guides that can help you fix those as well. If you don't see a guide that can help or can't figure out exactly what the issue is, you can always check out our mod and DIY forums for answers to many questions. If you still can't find what you're looking for, feel free to shoot an e-mail to ally@imore.com with guide suggestions and questions.

Jordyn Wieber, the 2011 gymnastics all-around world champion, failed to make the Olympics final. Her US teammates were too good.?

On Sunday, that became a potential problem.?
Only two girls from the US team can qualify for the Olympic all-around final ? the event that made Mary Lou and Nastia and Nadia gymnasts who no longer needed a last name. In London, it turns out, neither of the American girls on the mat will be named Jordyn.
Jordyn Wieber, the 2011 all-around world champion and a strong favorite to win gold in the all-around here, finished with the third-highest score on the American team in its qualification round Sunday. Now, Ms. Wieber will be sitting in the stands Thursday night when Gabrielle Douglas and Alexandra Raisman compete for the all-around title that many thought would be hers.
From the perspective of Team USA, gold-medal hopes in the all-around are not dashed. Earlier this month, Ms. Douglas topped Wieber at the Olympic trials in San Jose, Calif. ? though by only 0.1 points. Douglas could certainly win gold. But she had been seen as being less consistent than Wieber. In Ms. Raisman, the US team has someone perhaps more consistent than Douglas but less thrilling.?
In Wieber and Douglas, the US was setting up a storyline eerily similar to Beijing ? a potential 1-2 punch of gymnasts equally gifted yet completely opposite. Wieber, the powerful technician, is all about business ? strong as a racehorse and built to win. Douglas is all smiles and sunshine, a lithe leaper whose flexible contortions express the joy within.
It seemed set to be an irresistible event.
Then Wieber stumbled Saturday, literally. She was shaky on the balance beam, then stepped out on her floor routine. The scores were not catastrophic. In fact, with four of the five qualifying groups finished, her 60.032 would have been the top score for any other team except Russia, and there it would have been second. In other words, she only missed the all-around because her teammates were better than every other gymnast in the world, save one Russian.
That would seem to bode well for the team event Tuesday. Indeed, the cumulative US score Sunday was more than a point better than Russia and a whopping 5 points better than No. 3 China. The question is: How will Wieber manage the disappointment?
On Sunday, her team prevented her from competing for a life-long dream.
On Tuesday, her team cannot win without her. ??

NEW YORK (AP) ? Movie Star News amassed a staggering amount of film stills, posters and negatives over the past 73 years ? nearly 3 million, including 1,500 prints of Bettie Page, known as the queen of pin-ups. But last week, the once-lively store in lower Manhattan was lifeless. The classic movie posters that once covered its narrow 2,000-square-foot space were rolled up or covered in cellophane, its bins and racks empty. Everything was packed up in cardboard boxes that lined the floor.
The legendary Manhattan store credited with creating pin-up art had sold its entire inventory to a Las Vegas collectibles company.
The collection, regarded as one of the largest of its kind, is headed for the auction block. It will be sold in a series of sales slated to begin next year. The bulk of the collection covers the years 1939 to 1979; 11,500 movies and 5,000 actors are represented.
"This is the most important photo archive of Hollywood in existence. There are tens of thousands of negatives that have never been reproduced," said Stuart Scheinman, co-owner of Entertainment Collectibles, which bought the collection. "There are images here that have never been seen by the public."
There are 2,000 original prints and negatives of Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando, 1,000 of Gary Cooper, 400 of Bette Davis, hundreds of movie images of "The Godfather" and "Gone With the Wind."
"This could literally take five to 10 years to go through it all," Scheinman said. He would only say the company purchased the collection for "seven figures." Its true value was anyone's guess, but he believed it easily was worth $150 million.
Movie Star News produced 8-by-10 glossy prints from the negatives, selling each for a few dollars in the store and through the mail. But the Internet has significantly cut down on demand.
"I make references to things when customers come in, and they have no idea what I'm talking about," said Ira Kramer, who took over the business that his mother, Paula, and uncle Irving Klaw, started in 1939. "Today, if you want a picture of a star you can go on the computer and download it. So what do you need me for?"
"The maintenance of the collection has been fastidious ... the way a fine library would maintain material," said Arlan Ettinger, president of Guernsey's and in charge of selling the collection.
As far back as the 1940s, Movie Star News had a mailing list of 100,000 names. World War II soldiers were big customers, buying prints for their lockers, Kramer said.
The entrepreneurial Klaw, who died in 1966, hit on the idea of selling pictures of Hollywood stars while operating a movie bookstore.
"He noticed that kids were tearing out the pictures of the movie stars, so he decided to sell their pictures rather than the books," Kramer said. Klaw started dealing directly with movie studios, RKO, Columbia and others, located in those days along Eleventh Avenue.
"He made arrangements to buy from them whatever they didn't want ... original negatives, original prints of 'Citizen Kane,' 'Three Stooges,'" he said. The studios were more than happy to be rid of the stuff for which they had no room.
Kramer's mother was the one who took the pin-up shots. But it was Klaw who launched that side of the business after a man approached him about making him a set of photographs of skimpily-clad girls posing with whips and ropes, said Kramer.
Page was Klaw's favorite model, and a suitcase of the 7-inch heels she wore in the photos, plus other bondage props, will be included in the auction.
The photos were tame by today's standards. In fact, the models were required to wear two pairs of underwear. But the FBI continuously harassed Klaw and he had to appear before the 1955 Senate Subcommittee on Obscene and Pornographic Materials.
"It was a big headache," Kramer said. Klaw finally decided to burn all the pin-up material ? but Paula Klaw saved a lot of it.

BEIRUT (AP) ? Syria's top diplomat in London said he could no longer represent the regime and defected Monday, as civilians fled the commercial hub of Aleppo in droves amid 10 days of fierce battles between rebels and government forces.
Britain's Foreign Office said that Khaled al-Ayoubi, the charge d'affaires, told officials that he wasn't willing to represent the regime any longer, the latest high-profile defection of a diplomat from Syria over the bloody crackdown on the opposition since March 2011.
Fighting is heating up in Aleppo, Syria's largest city with 3 million people. The U.N. said 200,000 Syrians have left over the past 10 days as the government trains its mortars, tank and helicopter gunships on the neighborhoods seized by the rebels.
"I am extremely concerned by the impact of shelling and use of tanks and other heavy weapons on people in Aleppo," Valerie Amos, the top U.N. official for humanitarian affairs, said in a statement late Sunday. "Many people have sought temporary shelter in schools and other public buildings in safer areas," she added. "They urgently need food, mattresses and blankets, hygiene supplies and drinking water."
Amos said U.N. agencies and the Syrian Red Crescent are working together on supplying those affected by the fighting with blankets and humanitarian supplies, but many remain out of their reach because of the violence.
"It is not known how many people remain trapped in places where fighting continues today," she warned. Aleppo is Syria's largest city and commercial hub with about 3 million inhabitants.
Aleppo is some 50 kilometers (30 miles) away from the Turkish border and some of those fleeing the city are headed for Turkey, where tens of thousands of Syrians have already found refuge during the 17-month uprising against authoritarian President Bashar Assad's rule.
Turkey is deploying more troops to the border, sending tanks, armored combat vehicles, more missile launchers and infantry troops, the state-run Anadolu agency reported.
Greece has responded by quadrupling the number of guards on its borders with Turkey out of fear of a potential influx of Syrian refugees.
Those fleeing Aleppo have described to The Associated Press incessant shelling, shortages of food and gasoline and soaring black market prices for everyday staples. In online videos they can be seen scurrying through streets against a backdrop of gunfire and climbing onto any form of transportation available to escape, including trucks, cars and even heavily laden motorcycles.
"Dozens of families are packing their belongings and leaving in cars and trucks," said an activist in a village near Aleppo, who declined to give his name for security reasons. "They are only taking light possessions that they can carry, like a few clothes, some valuables and that's it."
"I saw cars with eight, nine people packed in them fleeing the bombing," he added. He said rebels had seized a nearby checkpoint early in the morning and captured several tanks. The regime responded by shelling the rural area just northwest of the city. "Entire families are leaving."
Videos of the attack on the checkpoint posted Monday in the Internet show fierce exchanges of fire in the early morning and then later, victorious rebels hauling out boxes of ammunition and taking heavy machine guns for the fight in Aleppo.
The activist said refugees have fled to nearby villages where they stay with relatives or find shelter in local schools. Some however, are making the trip to the Turkish border.
Syrian state media had reported the army had "purged" Aleppo's southwestern neighborhood of Salaheddine and inflicted "great losses" upon the rebels in one of the first districts they took control of in their bid to seize the city.
Activists, however, disputed these claims and just described another day of fierce shelling of certain areas, backed up by the occasional foray on the ground. The assault has knocked down power lines and the neighborhood has been without electricity since the morning.
Gen. Babacar Gaye, the head of the United Nations Observer Mission in Syria expressed concerned over the ongoing violence in Aleppo, noting that "helicopters, tanks and artillery are being used."
Gaye visited the town of Rastan, just outside the city of Homs in central Syria, which has witnessed heavy fighting. Footage from his trip showed a devastated town with burnt out tanks by the side of the road and many destroyed buildings.
"We will be monitoring the level of violence and the use of heavy weapons in Syria. We will also be assessing if there is readiness and, if possible, progress for local confidence-building measures and national dialogue," said Gaye, whose mission is to monitor a cease-fire that has never been observed by either side.
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said late Sunday that the use of heavy weapons, particularly helicopters, is just another nail in President Bashar Assad's coffin. He spoke during a stopover in Tunisia as he kicked off a Mideast tour expected to focus heavily on the unfolding crisis in Syria.
Al-Ayoubi, the Syrian diplomat in London, is the fourth high ranking envoy to defect. He was preceded by the charge d'affaires in Cyprus, her husband, a diplomat in the UAE, and by the ambassador to Iraq.
A Foreign Office spokesman said al-Ayoubi was staying in a safe location in the United Kingdom and was in contact with British officials. His departure leaves five staff at the embassy and there has been no indication that they would be leaving their posts as well.
Turkey also reported that the deputy head of security for Syria's Latakia region, a regime stronghold, had defected as well.
The brigadier general was among a group of 12 Syrian officers who crossed into Turkey late Sunday, the official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to reporters. His defection raised to 28 the number of generals who have left for Turkey since the start of the 17-month-old uprising.
Syria's army remains mostly intact, however, and still vastly outguns the rebel forces, who are armed for the most part with assault rifles and machine guns and don't have the heavy weapons necessary to effectively oppose tanks and helicopter gunships.
