Kids school holiday ideas - Blog - Jucy Rentals

It?s school holiday season, so here are some great family activity ideas for Mums and Dads to entice the kids away from their computers, tablets and smartphones!

Free

Public art galleries, museums, the local swimming pool, councils and libraries are often great places to find fun free activities that the whole family can enjoy. Most local Kids school holiday ideascouncils will have a list of school holiday activities on their website arranged according to price, with many freebies to be found. The great outdoors is always a fabulous option. Get some fresh air at nearby beaches or take the kids out to the jungle gym at the local park so they can get some outdoor playtime. Pack a picnic for the entire family and enjoy all that nature has to offer for free!

Road trippin?

The holidays are the best times to take the family out on an adventure to someplace a little further from home. Whether you choose to go in a campervan, or pile the family into the back of the 4WD and pitch tents at the holiday park, there is no denying that the classic road trip will give you some lasting family memories! Remember to pack the camera as well to capture all those golden moments and have some games for the kids to play while in the car. The best travel games are ones that are simple and involve little planning. You can find some great ideas for games including trivia, 20 questions and Ghost here.?Kids school holiday ideas

At home games

Sometimes it can be hard to get away from the family home, even for the holidays, especially if you have very young children or it?s a rainy day. If you have a good stash of board games at home, classics like Snakes & Ladders, Monopoly and Cluedo can be a great way to engage the whole family. Pinterest has some great ideas of play recipes for things you can create with kids at home, like making paper, fairy sparkle playdough, moon dust and homemade edible finger paint. For older children, electronic family-friendly games on the XBox or Playstation like Rock Band and Sing Star can get them really involved and fired up!

Cooking lessons?

A fun way to teach kids life skills during the school holidays are cooking lessons. Cooking with kids and even teenagers can be tricky. Be prepared for lots of clean-up, but also to have plenty of fun and laughs along the way. If you?re out on the road, you can still teach kids how to cook, in the back of a campervan or over a camping stove. Here are some kid-friendly recipes to get you started.
