Used Car ? Bad Credit Buying Tips

Used car buying with bad credit can be really, really frustrating.

First there?s the approval process. Getting approved on the vehicle you want to buy may or may not happen. Getting the payments you want may or may not happen. You may not be able to come up with the down payment. The dealer may be too pushy in trying to get you to buy a car that you really don?t want.

No one wants to settle.

Fortunately, you can get used car bad credit financing without having to go through the hassle of credit applications and interviews by the dealer finance department. You can in fact, get your own financing! Most people think that just because they have bad credit, that they can?t deal directly with a finance company. Maybe it seems too complicated.

The truth is, that if you want a lower interest rate, lower payments and a bad credit car loan without having to put down a downpayment, you need to deal directly with a loan company. Dealing directly gets you an approval letter that you can take to the dealership and give the finance manager once you?ve chosen the car that you want. The finance manager simply faxes the information about the car to the loan company and the loan company mails the dealership a check. Your interest rate has already been preapproved by the loan company.

You can also use this to buy a car from a private owner. Frequently, the prices of cars for sale by owners in the newspapers and local bargain paper are lower than at car dealerships and no sales tax has to be paid.

'Tax dodge' protest at U2 Glastonbury show turns violent (AFP)

GLASTONBURY, United Kingdom (AFP) ? Violence erupted in the crowd watching U2's debut performance at Britain's Glastonbury festival Friday, as security guards foiled a protest against the Irish rockers' tax status.

As the band came on stage to play to around 50,000 revellers, campaign group Art Uncut inflated a 20-foot (six-metre) balloon emblazoned with the message "U Pay Your Tax 2."

But as they tried to release it over the crowd, a team of 10 security guards waded into the crowd and wrestled them to the ground before deflating the balloon and taking it away.

The intervention took place after U2's first song "Until The End of The World" and sparked clashes between some 30 protesters and security guards. No arrests were made.

One campaigner, who did not give his name, said: "Political activism used to belong at Glastonbury. This was all going to be completely peaceful."

But the violence did not stop U2 rattling through an array of their smash hits, including "I Still Haven't Found What I am Looking For" and "Sunday Bloody Sunday".

Frontman Bono was wearing his trademark sunglasses and the heavy rain that poured down during the band's set did not seem to affect his performance.

Art Uncut had earlier announced their plans to protest against U2, whose frontman is more used to receiving plaudits for a crusade to tackle African debt, poverty and disease.

"Bono is well known for his anti-poverty campaigning but Art Uncut is accusing him of hypocrisy," campaigner Charlie Dewar said.

"U2's multimillion-euro tax dodge is depriving the Irish people at a time when they desperately need income to offset the Irish government's savage austerity programme."

The group said U2 had switched their tax affairs from Ireland to the Netherlands to pay less tax following a change in the law in 2006.

Ireland needed a massive international financial bailout last year after falling into heavy debt when a property bubble burst.

U2 -- who were unable to headline Glastonbury last year after Bono was rushed to hospital for emergency back surgery -- were not available for comment.

Around 170,000 revellers are expected this weekend at the dairy farm in Somerset, southwest England, where the world's largest greenfield music and performing arts jamboree is held.

Earnest British rockers Coldplay headline on Saturday night and R&B superstar Beyonce takes the honours on Sunday.

Jonathan Handel: Venture Capitalists and Rx Activists Speak Out Against the PROTECT IP Act

Opposition to the PROTECT IP Act - Hollywood-supported legislation intended to reduce content piracy and block counterfeit goods - is growing among the tech community, with a letter blasting the bill released Thursday by more than fifty venture capitalists from forty firms that have funded many top Internet companies.

Also speaking out in recent weeks against the law is a completely different constituency: groups concerned that the broadly-drafted act would endanger U.S. consumers' access to lower-priced prescription drugs from Canadian and other foreign pharmacies.

In contrast, Hollywood trade associations and unions support the legislation, as do drug companies.

Mobile Phone-Brain Cancer Link Bewilders Epidemiologists | Pizaazz

Some of the greatest discoveries in the history of modern medicine came from scientists who noted spatial and temporal relationships between events that had not been previously recognized, and deduced from their observations that the events were causally linked.

SnowCholera Mobile Phone Brain Cancer Link Bewilders EpidemiologistsIn 1854 for example, the John Snow observed that high cholera death rates in 2 districts of Soho were linked by a common water supplier. Snow created maps (pictured) to display the link and eventually traced the outbreak to one of the supplier?s water pumps. He convinced the supplier to remove the pump handle and treat the water with chlorine, and that promptly ended the epidemic. Snow?s work was canonized as a founding event?in the science of epidemiology.

Then in 1928, Alexander Fleming?already renowned as a brilliant scientist with an untidy laboratory?accidentally spilled a beaker filled with a fungus (genus, Penicillium) onto a petri dish containing the staphylococcus bacteria, just before he left for a vacation with his family.

Upon returning, Fleming noticed that staph colonies close to the spill had died. Fleming subsequently showed that the fungus produced a substance which killed staph and many other bacteria. He named the substance Penicillin. The discovery revolutionized the treatment of bacterial infections and spawned the entire pharmaceutical industry in the process.
?
Last month, Finnish scientists used similar spatiotemporal analyses to look at the purported link between mobile phone use and brain cancer. Unfortunately, their results were not nearly as?clear-cut as those of Snow and Fleming.

Here?s the Story
Mobile phones produce radio-frequency electromagnetic fields. To date, no study has proven that the radiation is tumorigenic, but doubt persists because it has proven difficult to quantify the amount radiation exposure in various areas of the brain, and the long latency period before cancer first develops and becomes clinically manifest.

Taking a fresh look at the matter, Suvi Larjavaara and colleagues at the University of Tampere reasoned that if mobile phone radiation caused cancer, these tumors ought to be found in parts of the brain nearest the area where the user holds the phone. That?s because the radio-frequency field emitted by mobile phones penetrates the skull in a highly localized fashion, decreasing in intensity by a factor of 10 just 2 inches from the handset.

To investigate this hypothesis, Larjavaara?s group performed a multicenter, case-control study using data from nearly 900 patients with glioma, the aggressive form of brain cancer that some believe is triggered by mobile phones.

The scientists found that the gliomas did not cluster within the range of the radiation emitted from the devices.? In addition, people who spent more time on the phone and had used a phone for the longest period of time were no more likely than others to develop cancer near the site where they reported holding the phone.

Unfortunately, their results are far less conclusive than those of Snow and Fleming, because gliomas can take a decade or more to develop, and less than 5% of the people in the study had used mobile phones for 10 years.

Larjavaara?s study was considered by the World Health Organization before it released a statement this month saying that mobile phones should be classified as ?possibly carcinogenic,? a group of environmental factors that also includes coffee, pickled vegetables and car exhaust.

The WHO report rattled millions since its previous position had been that there was no established evidence for a link, and since more than 5 billion mobile phones are currently in use around the world.

Certainly Larjavaara?s study didn?t support the WHO?s policy change. So what did?

In part, it was the results of another study by Elisabeth Cardis at the Center for Research in Environmental Epidemiology in Barcelona (scheduled for release next week). Cardis? group used a different algorithm to determine the amount of energy delivered to the tumor site. They found just the opposite result: gliomas in long-term mobile phone users did occur more frequently in places of the brain receiving higher radiation levels from the phone.

Modern times, modern problems I guess. The spatiotemporal observations that led to phenomenal scientific breakthroughs in the past have yet to reveal a clear picture in the evolving story of mobile phones and brain cancer. In addition to the methodological challenges mentioned above, the main problem with this epidemiological approach is that the pathogenesis of cancer involves a decades-long process;? whereas the bacterial processes observed by Fleming and Snow occurred in minutes to hours.

All that said, let?s remember that gliomas are exceedingly rare. The annual incidence of these cancers is only 6 per 100,000 people. Even if mobile phones doubled that risk (a very unlikely result) the incidence would be less than one-tenth as high as that for cancers of the prostate and breast. I?ll use a hands-free device as much as possible ?till the dust settles, but I?m not going to lose sleep over this.

US Congress mulls approving limited Libya action (AFP)

WASHINGTON (AFP) ? US lawmakers will consider two bills authorizing limited military action in Libya over three months after Washington joined Western allies in an air war on Moamer Kadhafi's regime.

The bills were unveiled Tuesday night as President Barack Obama has come under fire from fellow Democrats and Republicans for failing to secure congressional authorization in accordance with the War Powers Resolution.

The administration has argued the 1973 resolution -- intended to curtail presidential power -- does not apply in Libya because the US military is playing a support role, with no ground troops and little risk of casualties.

Republican House Speaker John Boehner and others from both sides of the aisle have challenged that reasoning which was reportedly also rejected by top lawyers in the Pentagon and the Justice Department.

"The Obama Administration's claim that targeted bombings, missile strikes, and other military actions in Libya do not constitute 'hostilities' under the War Powers Resolution is not credible," Boehner said Tuesday.

"If the Commander-in-Chief believes that intervention in Libya is important for our national security, he has a responsibility to make a case for it -- clearly and publicly -- and seek authorization," he added.

Boehner said House Republicans would meet Wednesday to consider two resolutions, one modeled on a Senate resolution authored by senior Democrat John Kerry and veteran Republican John McCain to authorize limited force.

"The resolution is not a blank check for the president. Not at all," Kerry said, adding that it would require the military to play a supporting role and spell out the Senate's opposition to any introduction of US ground troops.

It would also expire after one year, he said Tuesday.

The United States joined Britain and France in attacking Kadhafi's forces in mid-March in a UN-authorized mission to protect civilians as his troops were marching on the rebel stronghold Benghazi.

Kadhafi had threatened to go house by house in hunting down opponents of his 41-year rule, who took to the streets in February in mass protests modeled on the uprisings that brought down autocrats in Egypt and Tunisia.

Republicans and Democrats alike have expressed support for the intervention but have been angered by Obama's refusal to seek congressional authorization, with some lawmakers on both sides threatening to target funding for the war.

UVF 'orchestrated' Belfast rioting

Masked men throwing missiles in east Belfast

The BBC's Mark Simpson on the events in east Belfast

A Protestant clergyman has said two men were shot during trouble in east Belfast

The police confirmed shots were fired by nationalist and loyalist crowds during the disturbances in the Short Strand area.

Trouble broke out between rioters at a sectarian interface on the lower Newtownards Road and Mountpottinger Road around 2100 BST on Monday.

The PSNI said one officer was taken to hospital with an eye injury.

Petrol bombs, fireworks, bricks, stones and smoke bombs were thrown and homes were damaged during the trouble.

Reverend Mervyn Gibson was at the scene.

"After midnight there were two bursts of gunfire," he said.

"Two young men on the Protestant side were injured, both shot in the legs.

"I was with them both and helped others to arrange to get them to hospital.

"It really was a serious scene. I haven't seen trouble like this for maybe 10 years in the area."

Sinn Fein MLA Alex Maskey was also on the ground during the disturbances.

"The PSNI told me that they had injured people with plastic bullets on the loyalist side, people who were clearly the aggressors. I have no idea who else was injured," he said.

Mr Maskey claimed members of the loyalist paramilitary group, the Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) took part in the attack on the Short Strand.

"I am very clear in what I am saying," he said.

Analysis

This particular interface on the lower Newtownards Road has a long history of sectarian violence. The area around St Matthews Catholic church was where the Provisional IRA was involved in its first major gun battle in 1970. At the time republicans claimed they were defending the church and the Catholic community who live in the adjoining Short Strand area, from loyalist attack. Confrontations have flared up sporadically ever since. Following the signing of the Good Friday Agreement and the ongoing peace process, the Catholic church has still been the target of sectarian attacks. Both sides have blamed each other for the violence along the interface. The rioting on Monday night was the most serious for some time.

"I am making a very serious statement and as far as people in the Short Strand are concerned, the UVF launched an attack on the Catholic community in this area. I think it's absolutely disgraceful."

Police came under attack trying to restore order.

Laser pens were used to try and 'blind' police. One officer was treated for an eye injury in hospital.

Police said they are also investigating a report of an attempted hijacking of a bus.

District Commander Chief Superintendent Alan McCrum said between 400 to 500 people were involved in the disorder.

He said police were working tirelessly in the community to reduce tensions and prevent disorder.

"We recognise and appreciate the efforts made by community leaders and representatives who worked hard to reduce tensions and calm the situation," he said.

"We would appeal to anyone with any influence to continue to work with police to tackle these issues which are damaging for the whole community.

"This is an issue that cannot be addressed by police alone. Much more can be achieved if everyone in the community works together."

Many institutes train the climbers how to climb the mountain ridges and what the security measures are taken when start to climb a rock root etc. Guided group climbing for a group of climbers such as two or more beginners provide the training sessions.

Small plane plunges into river at Poland air show (AP)

WARSAW, Poland ? A small plane lost control and plunged into a river Saturday as it performed stunts at an air show in Poland.

The accident occurred in Plock, in central Poland, as people gathered by the Vistula River for a picnic and the air show.

The news station TVN24 broadcast images of the small plane doing aerobatics when it began spewing out plumes of dark smoke and then plunged into the water.

Rescue workers pulled the pilot from the wreckage and tried to resuscitate him before sending him to a hospital. It was not immediately clear if he survived.

The pilot was alone in the plane, a Christen Eagle II, a popular single-engine aircraft used for aerobatic flying. TVN24 identified the pilot as Marek Szufa, a pilot for the Polish airline LOT and the runner-up in a Poland-wide aerobatics championship.

The director of the Air Club of Mazovia that organized the show, Slawomir Adamkowski, said it was too soon to draw conclusions about what caused the crash.

Boards of management of human resources to ensure the smooth ...

An essential aspect of the business is with good workers. Make sure that there are companies smoothly in all departments. But even if you have the best people, not necessarily guarantee that you will be successful in business. It is also important to ensure consistency and then work as a team.

Human Resource Management is about the best employees that they are motivated to work and. In addition, management have structures that people create to make to improve their career, work and grow more in the career ladder within the company.

As a company that his team of Human Resource Management with the qualification of personnel management. Use your management team, business books and magazines that offer related materials relating to human resources.

Climate and Energy News Roundup June 19th | Watts Up With That?

Restoring the Scientific Method is the theme of the Sixth International Conference on Climate Change (ICCC-6), Sponsored by the Heartland Institute. It will take place in Washington, DC from breakfast Thursday, June 30, to noon Friday, July 1, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. This event will be more modest than in the past, yet as informative and, perhaps, even more challenging to the orthodoxy.

Senator James Inhofe is the Keynote Speaker at the Thursday breakfast. Senator Inhofe, probably more than anyone, prevented the US Senate from adopting cap-and-trade. Other principal speakers include S. Fred Singer, Craig Idso, and Bob Carter ? all major contributors to the NIPCC reports. Of course, SEPP is a co-sponsor. For the program please see:

THIS WEEK:
By Ken Haapala, Executive Vice President, Science and Environmental Policy Project (SEPP)

A number of events occurred this week that increases the turmoil surrounding climate science.

American Meteorological Society: Noted hurricane expert and a member of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) for over 50 years, Bill Gray, blasted the current, ideologically driven leadership of the AMS for embracing the human-caused global warming (AGW) hypothesis espoused by the UN Intergovernmental Panel for Climate Change. According to Gray, the leadership did so without considering the views of many expert members of the society who do not embrace that view. The AMS failed its responsibilities to facilitate the scientific debate. Instead, the leadership adopted one side of a scientific issue without regard for its traditions of fostering scientific inquiry. As such, the effectiveness of the AMS has been greatly compromised.

Gray states two specific failings of the IPCC and its models which the AMS has embraced. One is that the upper troposphere water vapor feedback loop is grossly wrong. The models fail to handle the rainfall process correctly and project greater warming than justifiable. [This is illustrated in the missing fingerprint in weather balloon and satellite observations of the atmosphere centered over the tropics at about 10 km as shown in NIPCC 2008.]

The second failing Gray cites is the failure to comprehend the fundamental role of the deep ocean circulation, the Meridional Overturning Circulation (MOC). [The MOC is a more rigorous concept than the more popularly known Thermohaline Circulation.] To Gray, the MOC significantly influences rainfall, wind, and surface temperature changes independent of greenhouse gases and radiation.

The displeasure Gray expresses is similar to the displeasure numerous members of other physical societies have expressed towards the leadership of their organizations, which have issued political statements regarding AGW without fully consulting the views of the membership. We are witnessing a decline in scientific rigor and discipline in scientific debates. The damage being done to the societies is significant as is damage to the American science as a whole. Please see Article # 1.

On Monday, at the annual meeting of the solar physics division of the American Astronomical Society, three separate groups announced the findings of their research -solar activity appears to be diminishing. The three studies examined three different components of activity, 1) the jet stream in the solar interior, 2) diminishing sunspots on the visible surface and 3) changes in the corona and near the poles. All three research efforts pointed to the same direction ? a pronounced decline in solar activity including sun spots and solar magnetism.

Immediate responses range from it means little or nothing, the orthodoxy, to an alarmist future Little Ice Age. The quote above from Michael Mann reflects the orthodox view that solar changes have little influence on global warming and the climate.

The orthodoxy totally ignores the solar-cosmic ray hypothesis that solar activity, namely solar wind and magnetism, influences the number of high energy cosmic rays hitting the earth?s atmosphere, which, in turn, influences the formation of low level clouds which reflect sunlight, thus have a cooling effect. A dormant sun results in more cosmic rays and more clouds and cooler temperatures. A small change in cloud cover can result in significant temperature changes.

The quote above from Henrik Svensmark reflects the solar-cosmic ray hypothesis. At this time, one cannot confirm if the sun?s activity will continue to diminish, as the new research suggests. Nor can one confirm that sunspot activity is clearly related to solar wind and magnetism. (The effects of changes in solar wind and magnetism on cosmic rays have been long established.) If solar wind and magnetism diminishes, and clouds increase, then these events become a physical test of the solar-cosmic ray hypothesis.

At this time, the extent of the possible cooling, if any, cannot be determined. Don Easterbrook posted on Anthony Watt?s web site an excellent analysis of possible alternative cooling scenarios. The result may be a shallow cooling similar to 1945 to 1977, a more severe cooling similar to 1880-1915, a much more severe cooling similar to the Dalton Minimum of 1790 to 1820, or a return to a Little Ice Age. (Please see articles referenced under ?Is the Sun Rising?? and under ?Defenders of the Orthodoxy.?

Of course, several British satirists have seized upon these projections and wrote articles on what actions their government would take to prevent global cooling. Please see articles referenced under ?Below the Bottom Line.?

Climategate and similar IPCC shenanigans are upon us once again. One of the favorite marketing ploys of the IPCC is to make press releases and issue a Summary for Policymakers (SPM) with exciting claims with details to follow. It did so in the Fourth Assessment Report (AR4), in which the SPM was released months before the main report. The main report poorly supported, or failed to support, many of the claims in the SPM. Further, many of the claims were supported by gray literature written by operatives from environmental groups.

On May 9, the IPCC released a summary report claiming that close to 80% of the world?s energy needs can be supplied from renewable energy sources by 2050. According to IPCC Chairman Rajendra Pachauri, the report was based on the best information available and was a sound basis for policymakers to meet the challenges of global warming. It did not pass the sniff test.

On June 14, the IPCC released the main report. Steve McIntyre of Climate Audit examined it and discovered the lead author of the critical chapter arriving to 80% of the world?s energy needs was a Greenpeace activist, Sven Teske, appointed to the IPCC by the German government. Even more interesting, the IPCC claim was based on a report by Greenpeace and the European Renewable Energy Council (EREC), with the lead author none other than Sven Teske. Thickening the plot, the preface to the Greenpeace report was written by none other than IPCC Chairman Rajendra Pachauri. This is the best IPCC can do for objective, scientific reports!

As the dubious science of the IPCC was unraveling, the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), under which IPCC festivities take place is asking member nations for donations to increase its roughly $25 Million budget by 15% because it has taken on new responsibilities, including gearing up to dispense $100 Billion per year by 2020 in payments from developed nations to developing nations as compensation for global warming.

Perhaps it?s time for UNFCCC and IPCC to demand payments from the multibillion dollar environmental industry, which raises great sums playing to the false fears the IPCC creates. This would relieve the taxpayers of Western nations from the obligation of supporting an organization that is dedicated to lessening their standards of living. Further, it would remove the last shrouds covering the claim that the IPCC is an objective, scientific organization and identify it for what it has become- an organization for promotion of the environmental industry. Please see articles referenced under ?Climategate Continued? and ?Defenders of the Orthodoxy.?
******************
EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson has repeatedly made claims of the monetary benefits conferred to Americans by EPA regulations, especially under the Clean Air Act, that, simply, are not credible. Only the EPA and the environmental industry use them. Independent economists disregard them.

This week David Montgomery and Anne Smith of NERA Economic Consulting released a report stating the basis by which EPA obtains some of its dubious numbers. It is not by an objective measure, but by surveys, political polls ? how much do you think we should pay for (cleaner air)? Obviously, the answer would be different for government employee as compared with a recently unemployed gulf oil worker. If the report is correct, then no numbers emanating from the EPA should be accepted as reliable. Please see report referenced under ?Communicating Better to the Public ? Exaggerate??
******************
The Number of the Week: 3 is taken from the web site of John Brignell, Number Watch, who posted it on June 6, after an extended absence. Three is the number of campaigns (fronts) undertaken by the environmental industry and political enablers to, in Brignell?s terms, bring down the modern state by attacking ?its energy, manufacturing and transport systems.? It worked well against Germany in World War II.

To Brignell the first front was global warming / climate change, and that is failing. The second front is ocean acidification, actually a marginal reduction in alkalinity of sea water, which is not doing well. Any tropical fish fancier recognizes the absurdity of many of the claims (some members of Congress may not).

The third front is particulates ? invisible air pollution ? tiny particles that may endanger health even though they are in low concentrations. The British government is sounding the alarm of the 1950s when burning of high sulfur coal, without scrubbers, killed thousands in a pea-soup fog. It makes little difference to government officials that automobiles or coal fired utilities with sulfur scrubbers do not produce the same sulfur emissions. The US EPA is invoking that dreaded metal mercury, without any physical evidence supporting its claims. Please see ?Opening the third front? under ?Challenging the Orthodoxy,? Article # 4, and referenced articles under ?EPA and Other Regulators on the March.?
